| 1. | How do I achieve Architectural Harmony? |
| We suggest you look through our project photos, on this website and in our literature, to start gathering ideas. A design professional such as an architect or interior designer can greatly enhance the creative process. We will build from your specific design, or offer suggestions on which Designer Doors products will be most appropriate for your project.
Working from a photograph or elevation of your home and garage, we will help you design products that reflect your home’s architectural elements and personality. To achieve architectural integrity, we recommend the following:
a) Windows. Look at the clusters, shapes and sizes of the windows on your home. Are they square or oblong and how many are in a pattern?
b) Architectural details. Is there an arch in a doorway or roofline or a surface material that would blend (i.e., bead board or v-groove). Is the detail horizontal or vertical?

| 2. | How do the overhead doors work? |
| They roll up with an automatic, push-button operator. A standard, professional-quality 3/4 hp operator works with all except our largest sizes. |
| 3. | How much do Designer Doors cost? |
| We pride ourselves on delivering the best value in terms of workmanship and materials no matter what product you choose. This is an investment in your home and lifestyle and we offer a variety of price points to meet your needs and expectations. | 4. | How are your products built? |
| Our doors, shutters and gates are individually handcrafted according to your design specifications. You can see the care and pride we take in our products in every detail. |
| 5. | What about maintenance? |
| Authentic wood exterior products require more care than those made of imitation materials. However, if our finish recommendations are followed, the wood maintenance is usually limited to re-applying the topcoat finish every 2 - 3 years without sanding or scraping. This process generally takes no more than an hour or two—a small price to pay for the beauty, warmth, versatility and character of real wood. |

| While it is sometimes possible to create similar appearing products using alternative methods, these options do not approach our strength, quality and durability. Each design employs only the finest materials and craftsmanship. Each door is handcrafted so we can pay attention to every detail. We incorporate a Moisture Control System to ensure longevity and function, enabling us to offer the industry’s best standard warranty. Finally, we offer the most design flexibility of any overhead door on the market. |
| 7. | How do I order doors or get pricing? |
| Because we believe in direct communication with our customers, we handle every detail of your project ourselves. You will work directly with our sales and sales support teams. | 8. | How long do I need to allow for delivery after I order? |
| Lead time can vary depending upon the door type, design and materials. In general, most projects require a lead time of 6–8 weeks. Our reputation for on-time delivery is extraordinary. |
| 9. | How are your products delivered? |
| All Designer Doors products are specially crated and delivered directly to the job site or other specified location. Designer Doors trucks are equipped with forklifts to help with offloading. Common carrier shipments to states west of Minnesota can also include forklift service where available. |
| 10. | How are the overhead doors installed? |
| To ensure dependable and safe operation, Designer Doors provides installation by a Designer Doors certified professional. We arrange the installation as part of our service to you. |
| 11. | Do I have to finish my doors myself? |
| As part of our turn-key solution, we offer factory finishing for all our products. This includes a base coat and two coats or stain or paint. Some customers prefer to finish their doors on-site. In this case, we will apply the primer or base coat only, to protect the doors throughout shipping and storage. For more detail, click here. |
| 12. | Do you offer a warranty? |
| Yes, Designer Doors stands behind every product and offers industry’s best limited warranty. See individual product lines for applicable warranties. |
| 13. | Do you build transoms and sidelites for your entrance doors? |
| Yes, we will build the entire entrance system using your specifications. |
| 14. | Do you install entranceways systems? |
| Installation of walk-through doors and entranceways systems is available in some markets. Please contact us for further detail. |
| 15. | Are your walk-through and entry doors pre-hung? |
| Yes, all our walk-through and entrance doors can be pre-hung in a frame specified by the customer. |
| 16. | Do you build and install automatic gates? |
| Because of the great variety of building codes and safety issues involved, we do not provide automatic features at this time. Our complementary gates are typically wood with metal features if required, designed for privacy and aesthetic value. |
| 17. | Can you replicate the old wood shutters on my historical house? |
| Yes, this is a specialty of ours; our craftsmen take great joy in re-creating authentic elements. |
