Worked Like A Charm.
“Our clients said they needed more space and a warm, inviting style, but the idea of bumping out walls felt like tampering with a treasure. So, we started with an exterior ‘face lift’ and ‘charmed’ the portico with over-sized pillars, stone steps and a whimsical overhead eyebrow-arch. We suggested a copper ridge cap, finials, shutters and window box planters that when brought together with fresh paint in rich, contrasting olive, forest green and brick red, reinforced their new Cottage style.
“However, beside the new entrance, the double-car garage encompassed nearly 25% of the home’s front elevation. Garage doors have a tremendous impact—evoking character, style and details that blend and create continuity with architectural elements like windows, doors, trim, and beyond. Designer Doors’ custom capabilities let us create, and we selected a traditional turn-of-the-century, carriage style garage door with a hand-forged wrought iron slide bar latch, mahogany buttons and chamfered trim boards. An eye-catching lantern from Rober’s Leuchten of Germany positioned between the two garage doors added the crowning touch.”
