When severe weather comes, it’s essential that a structure’s windows and doors be able to withstand high winds and extreme pressure changes, so that the people inside are protected and major damage to the roof, walls, living space, and other property is minimized. Because of its large size (area), the forces acting on the garage door are tremendous, and in the event of the door’s failure, the pressure change within the interior of the garage or structure can cause devastating damage.

That’s why the demand for high performance wind load rated doors continues to escalate in areas prone to high wind events - such as coastal hurricane areas and inland tornado prone areas. We have developed and tested a variety of Woodscapes doors for windload capabilities. All doors offered with windload ratings are tested in accordance with nationally recognized protocols and standards.

A door’s ability to withstand high velocity wind events is defined by design pressure, which is measured in pounds per square foot of force acting on the door. Note that wind resistant products must carry a design pressure (d.p.) rating verifiable by a third party.
